A Space Built with Heart

At TMCC, we believe no one should face Mouth Cancer alone. This page was created as a safe, anonymous space where mouth cancer patients, carers, family members, and friends can come together to share tips, advice, encouragements and lived experiences that may support others.

Whether it's a tip, a moment of encouragement, or a message of hope your voice matters here. These shared words will bring comfort and support to those navigating their own mouth cancer journey.

Please also send us any questions you have and we will use our networks of healthcare professionals and other Mouth Cancer organisations to provide answers where possible.

To Get Involved simply complete the Contact Us form.

Once received, your message will be added to this platform for others to see because together, we are stronger.

Your story matters…

You matter.

To clean your mouth do not use mouth wash as this can cause a burning sensation.

Instead; add 1/4 teaspoon of bicarb and 1/4 teaspoon salt into a glass of warm water. If this becomes painful, use gauze or cotton tips with saline.

As a family member of someone who passed away from this cruel disease, I would encourage others to savour the moments - big and small. Mouth cancer is confronting and devastating for the person living with it, but it is also deeply difficult for those who love and care for them. Wherever you can, savour the time you have: have big and small conversations, find things to laugh about, take photos (if your loved one is comfortable), bring family and little ones around, play music, and create a beautiful, comforting space. Even if it’s just you and them, without the support of others, know that a soft treat and a favourite TV show can go a long way. Try not to lose yourself entirely in the monotony, exhaustion, and heartbreak that can come with caregiving. There is still light to be found - and precious memories to be made - even in the hardest seasons.
